Spanish Teacher (High School)
Job Purpose
As a Spanish Teacher (High School) at the International Christian School in Hong Kong, you will be joining a team of seasoned and dynamic Christian professionals who seek Christ-centered academic rigor in our teaching and learning. Holding students to high standards, you will cultivate a positive learning environment that facilitates the achievement of the School’s Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs), informed by a biblical worldview.
The successful candidate will begin in late July 2025.
What you will do:
Create and maintain a positive learning environment which values student care, promotes positive relationships, and contributes to the intellectual and spiritual growth of students.
Work collaboratively to plan, prepare and deliver lessons that align to the ICS World Languages - Spanish curriculum and provide appropriate differentiated support to the students you teach.
Operate from standards-based grading and assessments that facilitate effective feedback according to students’ proficiency levels for specific knowledge and skills standards.
Promote the welfare of children and support ICS in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures.
Maintain regular communication and trust with parents in a welcoming, open and cooperative manner.
Work effectively and efficiently with other faculty members in grade and subject teams.
Participate in administrative tasks that are core to the school’s operation, such as curriculum management, service on committees, as well as engagement in co-curricular activities.
We are looking for someone with:
Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, and the ability to integrate biblical principles in their teaching.
Native or near-native Spanish, and fluent and proficient in English literacy.
A bachelor’s degree and teacher’s certification (i.e. Bachelor of Education, or Postgraduate Diploma in Education) or equivalent awarded by an accredited university. Holders of Registered Teacher license by the Education Bureau of HKSAR are highly preferred.
Strong pedagogy, and experience in the classroom teaching Spanish to secondary school students (age 11 to 18). Familiarity with the international school environment and standard-based grading and reporting are highly preferred.
Proven effective classroom management experience, that supports student development and models biblical principles.
A team player with a positive and growth mindset, and the ability to interact well with faculty, students and parents in all aspects of school life.
