Assistant Principal (Elementary School)

Job Purpose

International Christian School (“ICS”) is one of the leading international schools in Hong Kong emphasizing academic achievement and Christian spiritual formation of students.  ICS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Christian Schools International.  We are inviting educational and administrative leaders to join ICS for this rewarding role.  Reporting to the Kindergarten & Elementary School Principal, the successful candidate will work closely with the Principal to foster a positive and collaborative culture through strategic leadership and spiritual guidance to our elementary school students, faculty, and support staff teams.  

The successful candidate will commence in late July 2025.

What you will do

  • Demonstrate Christian leadership to ensure spiritual formation takes place in the elementary school learning environments, including fostering strong collegiality and students’ intellectual, physical, and spiritual development.

  • Assist the Principal of Elementary School to lead and manage faculty and staff through proper selection, motivation, and encouragement.  Drive a culture of excellence and manage change with innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that faculty mentor students with a biblical worldview through effective curriculum and pedagogy.

  • Ensure that school programs and activities are thoroughly planned and implemented in full compliance with child safety protocols and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Engage parents in their children’s learning experience with open communication and collaboration.

  • Collaborate with the Admissions Office to accommodate new students and ensure optimal student intake.

  • Contribute to the school-wide curriculum development of lower elementary, which aligns with the vision, mission, and values of ICS and support the attainment of the Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs).

We are looking for someone with

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership or related discipline from an accredited university.

  • At least 7 years of classroom teaching experience, plus a minimum of 2 years of  leadership experience in areas of curriculum & instruction, faculty development, and learning support in elementary grade levels. Experience in early childhood education is essential.

  • A clear and mature Christian faith aligned with the vision, mission, and values of ICS.

  • Holder of an ACSI or state certification in educational leadership, school administration or equivalent, or eligibility to be certified as a School Principal is preferred.

  • Solid knowledge and experience in the American curriculum, Reading and Writing Workshop Model, and Next Generation Science Standards are highly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Highly efficient and organized, with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks and resolve problems in accordance with the values of the school.
